PostHeaderIcon Can I use a different Blackberry to the one work gave me?

I have a work issued Blackberry that syncs with my corporate email.

Its an old looking model and was wondering if there was anything stopping me buying a new one (through the same Mobile Operator) and sticking my work SIM into it?

Will it synch my email to the new phone?
If this is a possibility, what settings would I need to know?

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated….

Cheers!

i think you can but to be sure call your mobile provider.

Your phone will probably work, but the rest depends on how your company has the BB configured. If they use a Blackberry Exchanger Server system, then the IT staff will need to set up your new BB so that it takes the place of the old one. The best thing to do is just ask them. They should already be able to replace lost or damaged BB devices. The setup is essentially the same for your new BB.

I totally agree with Adam. Phone will work, but your work IT department will have to assign your device to the work email system.

Why don’t you ask your work if they will buy you a new device and have them take the cost out of your paycheck? It’s likely they will have an upgrade option and special pricing that could save you quite a bit of money from just signing up on your own.

    Just a though!
